Responsible Insurer
At Generali GC&C, we support Group strategy to act as a responsible insurer, for example by reducing GHG emissions in our underwriting portfolio. We also work to enhance the socioeconomic wellbeing of vulnerable communities worldwide by creating innovative insurance solutions for them through our partnership with the UNDP.
Our Net Zero commitment
Generali GC&C focuses on progressively excluding the fossil fuel sector from our business activities, leveraging our group strategy on climate change. This effort will allow us to transition our insurance portfolio to net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050. We are also decarbonizing our underwriting portfolios to establish a maximum temperature increase of 1.5°C above pre-industrial levels by 2100.
Our Role Within the Generali-UNDP Partnership
Generali Group recently signed a multi-year partnership the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). We are committing technical and financial resources to the UNDP’s Insurance and Risk Finance Facility (IRFF) in order to increase the socioeconomic wellbeing of some of the world’s most vulnerable people. The partnership blends Generali’s insurance expertise with UNDP’s long-term focus on financing and development.
For the Generali Group, Generali GC&C acts as a center of excellence for parametric insurance, a key part of our commitment to delivering innovative risk management solutions and addressing our customers' evolving needs. Parametric insurance offers transparent, adaptable coverage for unexpected events, including those connected with climate change (natural disasters and weather-related risks, drought, floods, typhoons, etc.) that most often affect geographic areas in low-income countries.
