Generali Global Corporate & Commercial appoints new Head of Engineering & Construction Underwriting in Germany

• Ralph Oliver Schmidt appointed new Head of Engineering and Construction Underwriting
• Strategic development of technical insurance and expansion of Green Energy business will be Schmidt’s focus areas

Munich, Germany – Generali's P&C unit Global Corporate & Commercial (GC&C) appointed Ralph Oliver Schmidt as the new Head of Engineering & Construction Underwriting in Germany. He will oversee the strategic development of technical insurance and the expansion of the "Green Energy" business segment in Germany.

Commenting on the appointment, Hans-Peter Klebe, Head of GC&C Germany, stated: "We are delighted to have gained an experienced specialist in the field of engineering insurance with Ralph Oliver Schmidt. Over the last 12 years, Schmidt has built an international expertise in global plant construction and has gained extensive underwriting experience in important key industrial sectors such as chemical, and power.

Most recently, he was responsible for the global reins rance portfolio of Munich Re's mining division and helped expand the "Renewable Energy" business field in North America and Europe. His qualifications include a degree in industrial engineering from the Friedrich-Alexander University in Erlangen-Nuremberg.
